My experience in EME2040 has been great! I am taking one of the in-person sections. I really like this classroom experience because being in person gives me a chance to ask the instructor questions about things I may not understand on the assignments or portfolio items. Especially for me, because I sometimes get confused about using the technology, so having the instructor as a resource is super helpful. I also feel like I am more engaged in the class, as compared to a fully online class. I also think that it is helpful to have the zoom option if I am sick or have to miss class, so I can still be involved. When I am a teacher one thing I will do to improve the classroom experience is to have discussions in class more often between the students and between myself and the students. This will create a stronger teacher-student relationship which can lead to more growth!
Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning resources that are available to anyone to use for many different reasons and in many different ways. Resources that are "open" allow for people to use them to share, remix, or reuse. There are 5 technical rights of OER. They are retain, reuse, revise, remix, and redistribute. One OER I found was on writing for lower primary grade levels. It was called Imaginative Writing and is a plan for students with little reading abilities to help support them in their writing skills. It is for grade kindergarten or 1st grade and allows writing with the help of creative drawing.
Working on Assignment 4: Powerpoint for Information Dissemination was very interesting and I gained lots of new skills from it. I thought this assignment was very useful because it allowed me to see what it would be like to create a PowerPoint for a lesson and how I could use PowerPoint to create an engaging lesson and activity. I liked that I was able to take a lesson and include a chance for a game or quiz. In my lesson, I included a part that engaged the students by asking them quiz-like questions for a review. At first, I was nervous to record my voice teaching, but after I finished I was happy with the final product. I felt that it could be very beneficial for future students!
