Blog Journal #7 Teacher pages on a school website are great ways for teachers to get information out to students and parents about what is going on in the classroom and how they can get extra support and practice outside of the classroom. During Covid-19 teacher websites have been especially helpful because while students are learning remotely, they may lose some important information. Teacher pages can help provide that extra information and fill the gaps on what some students may be missing. One teacher page I found was from Dale Public Schools and the teacher was Cindy Hill . She is a high school science teacher and on her site, she has links to various grade levels with information for each. There is a daily schedule, lesson plans, and links to educational websites. This will be helpful to her students because they can access this information whenever they need to catch up or to just practice the topics more. This can also allow parents to be up to date with information. ...

Blog Journal 6

Blog Journal #6 I will be honest, when I first used Diigo I was a little confused. I was unsure how to navigate the site and use the tools. Once I got the hang of it and added the extension to my chrome browser it was a very useful tool. I thought that it was a cool way to annotate online sources and keep track of my thoughts. Especially when I am doing some kind of online research and am reading through many scientific articles, it can be hard to understand what I am reading. The annotation tool made it easier for me to understand the online sources. I also enjoyed that I could share or keep my annotations private. This makes it a useful tool for individual work and for group work because it allows the creator to share their thoughts.  So far I think I have had a positive experience with blogging. It is a nice way for me to get my thoughts onto paper and also recap what I have learned each week in EME 2040. I also like that while people can provide feedback, I feel like blo...

Blog Journal #5 Twitter has been a very useful resource over the years in my education. I have used Twitter a lot already throughout EME2040 and have learned useful information on how I can use Twitter to learn. Twitter is a great resource to expand my personal learning network and collaborate with others to expand my knowledge. I have followed accounts like the American Speech and Hearing Association or ASHA, Florida States' National Speech and Hearing Association or FSUNSHLLA, and I have followed other accounts about speech pathology. These accounts are helpful to my PLN because they allow me to hear the experiences of other people in the Speech Pathology field and learn more about different aspects of the field. This can help my future career because it can provide me opportunities to get to know others and also can provide me with advice when applying to grad school.  The digital divide refers to the gap that can be found between people with and without access to technolo...

Blog Journal #4 One of the first-grade ELA technology standards is that the students should be able to ask and answer questions about a read-aloud from a text or about any oral material. The technology used in this standard could be audiobooks or interactive storybooks. I do feel prepared to implement this standard because I am familiar with the concept of audiobooks and audio files. I sometimes listen to podcasts, so I feel like I would be able to find some related to what the students are learning so that they can feel comfortable asking and answering questions about what they are hearing. I could use different educational websites and also use my smartphone so that the students can listen. I could also familiarize myself with the StoryBook website to help students listen and identify key details.   In the Educator Tool Access Kit, I chose to use a resource from the first grade standards in the language arts subject. The resource I chose is called Detecting Capitals. T...
