Blog Journal #7 Teacher pages on a school website are great ways for teachers to get information out to students and parents about what is going on in the classroom and how they can get extra support and practice outside of the classroom. During Covid-19 teacher websites have been especially helpful because while students are learning remotely, they may lose some important information. Teacher pages can help provide that extra information and fill the gaps on what some students may be missing. One teacher page I found was from Dale Public Schools and the teacher was Cindy Hill . She is a high school science teacher and on her site, she has links to various grade levels with information for each. There is a daily schedule, lesson plans, and links to educational websites. This will be helpful to her students because they can access this information whenever they need to catch up or to just practice the topics more. This can also allow parents to be up to date with information. ...

Blog Journal #6 I will be honest, when I first used Diigo I was a little confused. I was unsure how to navigate the site and use the tools. Once I got the hang of it and added the extension to my chrome browser it was a very useful tool. I thought that it was a cool way to annotate online sources and keep track of my thoughts. Especially when I am doing some kind of online research and am reading through many scientific articles, it can be hard to understand what I am reading. The annotation tool made it easier for me to understand the online sources. I also enjoyed that I could share or keep my annotations private. This makes it a useful tool for individual work and for group work because it allows the creator to share their thoughts.  So far I think I have had a positive experience with blogging. It is a nice way for me to get my thoughts onto paper and also recap what I have learned each week in EME 2040. I also like that while people can provide feedback, I feel like blo...

Blog Journal #5 Twitter has been a very useful resource over the years in my education. I have used Twitter a lot already throughout EME2040 and have learned useful information on how I can use Twitter to learn. Twitter is a great resource to expand my personal learning network and collaborate with others to expand my knowledge. I have followed accounts like the American Speech and Hearing Association or ASHA, Florida States' National Speech and Hearing Association or FSUNSHLLA, and I have followed other accounts about speech pathology. These accounts are helpful to my PLN because they allow me to hear the experiences of other people in the Speech Pathology field and learn more about different aspects of the field. This can help my future career because it can provide me opportunities to get to know others and also can provide me with advice when applying to grad school.  The digital divide refers to the gap that can be found between people with and without access to technolo...

Blog Journal #4 One of the first-grade ELA technology standards is that the students should be able to ask and answer questions about a read-aloud from a text or about any oral material. The technology used in this standard could be audiobooks or interactive storybooks. I do feel prepared to implement this standard because I am familiar with the concept of audiobooks and audio files. I sometimes listen to podcasts, so I feel like I would be able to find some related to what the students are learning so that they can feel comfortable asking and answering questions about what they are hearing. I could use different educational websites and also use my smartphone so that the students can listen. I could also familiarize myself with the StoryBook website to help students listen and identify key details.   In the Educator Tool Access Kit, I chose to use a resource from the first grade standards in the language arts subject. The resource I chose is called Detecting Capitals. T...

Blog Journal #3  Copyright is the protection of intellectual property or creative works. Copyright comes into play when someone creates something intellectual or creative and gives the creator exclusive rights to the work. It stops other people from using a creator's work and saying it's theirs. If someone wishes to use the work they must give credit or possibly pay a fee to the creator. This can be written, audio, or audiovisual works. Fair use was a part of the guidelines for copyright established in 1976. Fair use allows the copy of materials for educational purposes within reason. This depends on how the work is used, how much of the work is used, and what impact the usage will have on the work's values. If I were a teacher, I would have to deal with these subjects a lot since I would have to use materials to teach my classes from the internet or textbooks and my students might need to use other materials for research. As a teacher, I would make sure I understand copyr...

Blog Journal #2 Throughout my education in K-12 and even until now as a sophomore in college, I have had a lot of experience with Microsoft Word. Over the years I have used Microsoft Word to submit essays or research papers, so I have had experience with manipulating the documents and using different fonts and font sizes to complete my assignments. In college, I have also taken an intro computer course where some of my assignments were done with Microsoft Word. Even though, I am very comfortable using Word I do prefer using Google Docs. I prefer this word processing software because to me personally it is easier for me to find the previous document that I may have been working on and the document automatically saves when you are working on it. This makes me confident that my work will be saved in case I forget to save the document. I do prefer Word for some things because it has features that Google Docs does not have, but I mainly use Google Docs.  The ISTE standard that is ...

Blog Journal # 1- Intro     My name is Zoie and I am a sophomore at Florida State University. I grew up in Orlando, FL, and chose to go to FSU because I loved the atmosphere and campus. I am majoring in Communications Sciences and Disorders and hope to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. I am also minoring in education and child development. I am looking forward to this course to learn how educational technology applies to my future profession.      Besides using technology throughout the years in my education and taking intro computer classes, I don't know much about using technology in an educational setting. Some skills I already have are Microsoft programs like Word and PowerPoint. In this course, I hope I can further my skills with specific programs like Excel and learn about new programs that can help in education. I hope to continue to learn about how we can use technology to help educate others as well as educate ourselves on various topics. ...
